HEIDI DUCKLER DANCE THEATRE CELEBRATED 32 YEARS OF SITE-SPECIFIC DANCE WITH THEIR GALA AT THE BALDWIN HILLS OVERLOOK

LOS ANGELES – November 12, 2017 –  The Los Angeles-based company, Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre (HDDT), provided an evening of dancing on the bluffs and under the stars at their 32nd Annual Gala, Ultramarine at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook.
The evening included a site-specific performance from HDDT, choreographed by founder Heidi Duckler. SoCal Connected‘s Executive Producer Val Zavala served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. During the ceremony, HDDT honored Los Angeles 2nd District Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas, Culver City Vice Mayor Thomas Small, and Culver City Councilmember Meghan Sahli Wells.
The gala celebrated HDDT’s 32nd year of creating thought-provoking and constantly evolving dance experiences and engaging audiences through artistry in non-traditional locations. Ultramarine honored HDDT’s 2017 season’s relation to water, including Beyond the Waterfront at the port of Los Angeles, Lake Enchanto at Peter Strauss Ranch, Ocean’s Skin at Grand Performances, and their series for the City of Culver City’s Centennial.

She has been awarded the City of LA Department of Cultural Affairs COLA Award, two Dance/USA Engaging Dance Audiences grants, California Arts Council Choreography Fellowship, Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival’s Maverick Award, LA Weekly’s Best Site-Specific Dance Company Los Angeles, and National Endowment of the Arts American Masterpiece award.
