“Modern Family” Dominates Its Slot for the 3rd Straight Week this Season

“American Housewife” Posts Best-Yet Lead-in Retention From ‘Modern Family’ and Ranks No. 1 in the 9:30 p.m. Half-Hour for the 2nd Week Running

 

 

“Designated Survivor” Scores the Season’s Biggest L+7 Lift With a 127% Jump

 

Wednesday (10/11/17) – ABC Total Viewer and Adult 18-49 Projections Plus MP+35 Rtg:  

“The Goldbergs”: L3 = 6.8 million/1.8 rtg, L7 = 7.2 million/2.0 rtg and MP+35 = 2.1 rtg

“Speechless”: L3 = 5.2 million/1.4 rtg, L7 = 5.6 million/1.5 rtg and MP+35 = 1.6 rtg

“Modern Family”: L3 = 8.7 million/2.8 rtg, L7 = 9.7 million/3.2 rtg and MP+35 = 4.1 rtg

“American Housewife”: L3 = 6.3 million/1.9 rtg, L7 = 6.8 million/2.1 rtg and MP+35 = 2.8 rtg

“Designated Survivor”: L3 = 8.3 million/1.8 rtg, L7 = 9.6 million/2.1 rtg and MP+35 = 2.5 rtg

Live + Same Day Results:

ABC Wednesday Prime (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 5.1 million and 1.3/5 in AD18-49):

Holding exactly even week to week, ABC ranked No. 2 on Wednesday night in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5-tied w/CBS) to Fox with “Empire,” beating NBC by 18% (1.1/4). ABC’s “Modern Family” nearly tied Fox’s “Empire” as Wednesday’s No. 1 TV series with Adults 18-49 (1.8/7 vs. 1.9/8).  Last Wednesday after the two shows tied for the first time in Live + Same Day Adults 18-49, “Modern Family” moved ahead of “Empire” in the Live + 3 Day ratings by 4%.

  • At 9:00 p.m., ABC’s “Modern Family” won its half-hour for the 3rd week running in Adults 18-49 (1.8/7), beating out Fox’s “Empire”-driven “Star” by 20% (1.5/6), CBS’ “SEAL Team” by 50% (1.2/4) and NBC’s “L&O: SVU” by 64% (1.1/4). 

 

  • Delivering its best-yet lead-in retention out of “Modern Family” in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour (78%), ABC’s “American Housewife” ranked No. 1 in its slot for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-49 (1.4/5-tied w/”Star”), beating the second half-hours of NBC’s “L&O: SVU” by 8% (1.3/5) and CBS’ “SEAL Team” by 17% (1.2/4).
  • In the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s “Designated Survivor” remained even week to week with Live + Same Day Adults 18-49 (0.9/4) and, prior to the inclusion of L3 and L7 TV Playback, is just 3-tenths behind the drama leader in the hour.

“Designated Survivor” Is Premiere Week’s No. 1 Gainer in Live + 7 Day Adults 18-49: 

One of only 2 shows to more than double its L+SD ratings during season premiere week, ABC’s “Designated Survivor” shot up by +127% in L+7 to lead the week, joining ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” (+109%) as the only other broadcast series to accomplish the feat.
