With 11-seasons under his belt as host of NBC’s “Late Night with David Letterman” (from 1982 to 1993), Letterman at 33 years in total has the longest tenure as a late night talk show host historically…On this day was the birth of two classic TV stars: “Hazel” herself, Shirley Booth, who was born in 1898; and “My Three Sons” patriarch Fred MacMurray, who was born in 1908.

Ratings Breakdown:
“America’s Got Talent” led NBC to another rock-solid Tuesday victory, with an 8.3 rating/14 share in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, this was eight percent above the 7.7/13 on the year-ago evening, which for a series in season 12 is unprecedented. “AGT” also bested competing “Bachelor in Paradise” on ABC (3.1/ 5) by a considerable 168 percent. But “Hollywood Game Night” at 10 p.m. did not benefit from the lead-in support, dipping to a second-place 3.0/ 5. That was a loss of 64 percent from “America’s Got Talent.”

Also original last night was failing ABC drama “Somewhere Between” at a typically modest 1.0/ 2 in the household overnights at 10 p.m.

CBS Orders Crime Drama Pilot “Chiefs”
In a competitive bidding war, CBS has landed the pilot for “Chiefs,” a new cop-themed drama from Sony Pictures Studios and CBS TV Studios which explores the professional and personal lives of three driven, successful, but very different women who are each Chiefs of Police of their own precincts in L.A. County. They band together to create a task force to catch a dangerous serial killer. The proposed hour-long drama comes from David Hudgins (“Shut Eye”) and Carol Mendelsohn (“CSI”).

YouTube Red Announces Animated Comedy “Dallas & Robo”
YouTube Red has confirmed a new animated sitcom for 2018 called “Dallas & Robo,” which is described as a space adventure and buddy-comedy from the producers behind “Robot Chicken.” The YouTube Red series, which has an order for eight episodes, features the voices of 16-time WWE champion John Cena (“Trainwreck,” “Sisters”) and Kat Dennings (“2 Broke Girls,” “Thor”). “Dallas & Robo” centers around sassy space-trucker “Dallas” (Kat Dennings) and self-proclaimed warrior-poet ”Robo” (John Cena) who have to navigate their way around cannibal bikers, rival space truckers, and vending machine burritos as they try to make a buck in the seedy world of interplanetary big rigging.

Rounding out the voice cast are Jane Lynch, Dana Snyder, Giancarlo Esposito, Clancy Brown, Bree Williamson, Nat Faxon, Taran Killam and Milana Vayntraub.

The series will be produced by Shadowmachine (“Robot Chicken,” “BoJack Horseman”). Mike Roberts (“Final Space”) is the creator of the series and also serves as an executive producer. Matt Mariska (“Robot Chicken”) and Andy Sipes (“Archer”) serve as writers and executive producers. John Cena also serves as an executive producer.

Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios Signs Long-Term Deal with Nielsen
Independent producer and distributor Entertainment Studios, the home of upcoming game show “Funny You Should Ask” and a variety of first-run court show strips, has signed a long-term agreement with Nielsen for linear and digital measurement services. The agreement makes available Nielsen’s best-in-class TV measurement for TV programs and commercial content in broadcast syndication and across all seven of the Entertainment Studios HD cable television networks (including pets.tvcomedy.tvrecipe.tvES.tv,mydestination.tv and justicecentral.tv).

“Nielsen’s world-class tools and measurement systems will continue to help us demonstrate the total value of our audience with this long-term deal,” said Byron Allen, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Entertainment Studios. “We are thrilled to be working with Nielsen as we look to unlock the full potential of our content, broadcast television programming, cable networks, and digital platforms for advertisers.”

In addition, the Entertainment Studios digital video-centric news platform The Grio will leverage several solutions from the Nielsen Total Audience Measurement framework including Nielsen Digital Content Ratings (DCR) and Nielsen Total Content Ratings (TCR). The activation of Digital Content Ratings and Total Content Ratings will deliver daily updates that enable the comparison between digital and linear audiences with comparable metrics. The integrated solutions will provide unduplicated audience metrics that simplify the media selling process and assist with optimizing their available ad inventory regardless of the platform and ad load.

“North Woods Law,” featuring the Conservation Officers of New Hampshire Fish and Game who preserve and protect New Hampshire’s natural resources, will open a new season on Animal Planet on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. ET. The logline: New Hampshire is a premiere destination for outdoorsmen and women because of its wild and rugged landscape, making the work of Conservation Officers diverse and demanding. The officers are tasked with enforcing all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the state’s fish, wildlife, recreational vehicles, and marine resources.

Discovery en Español kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with two new productions: ”RMD Garage” and “The Auto Firm Con Alex Vega.” Both series will premiere on Monday, September 11th as part of the network’s “Lunes de Motores’’ the network’s programming block dedicated to the transformation of cars that showcases real life stories that combine technology, innovation and local talent. In “Red Garage” (Mondays at 9 p.m. ET), viewers will meet Ralph Holguín, owner of one of the most famous and reputable workshops on the west coast. And “The Auto Firm Con Alex Vega” (Mondays at 10 p.m. ET) introduces Alex Vega and his business, which stands alone in the industry as the go-to, one-stop for celebrities and car enthusiasts alike.

For the first time, the Victoria’s Secret Angels will be filmed in Shanghai, China for “The Victoria’s Secrets Fashion Show,” which will be broadcast Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. on CBS. Merging fashion, fantasy and entertainment, the lingerie runway show will include pink carpet interviews, model profiles, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show, and musical performances that will be announced at a later date.

Biographical series “The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story”will debut exclusively on Netflix October 20, 2017. “The Day I Met El Chapo” is the biographical account of Mexican actress, Kate del Castillo. The three-part series tells Kate’s side of the story using never-before-seen footage and exclusive details of what led to the infamous meeting between one of the world’s most notorious drug lords, a Hollywood star and one of Mexico’s most famous television actresses.

“Gold Rush” will return on Discovery with a two-hour season premiere onFriday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET. The logline: Before the new mining season even kicks off, gold miner Todd Hoffman lays everything on the line and wagers a massive bet with 22-year-old Parker Schnabel. The ever-confident Todd believes he can pull in the most gold this season. If not, he owes Parker 100 ounces of gold worth over $100,000 dollars. This sets off a head-to-head competition for the season between these two rivals.
