January 12th 2017, Los Angeles:) The National Theatre of The World proudly presents a brand new monthly engagement with “Canada’s Most Laughable Couple” (Toronto Star) at the storied Improv Olympic in Hollywood California.
Some sketch, some improvisation – and constant bickering, each show will be different and will highlight Baram and Snieckus’ unique brand of hilarity. Matt Baram (Suicide Squad, NBC’s Taken, BBC’s Black Mirror directed by Jodi Foster) and Naomi Snieckus (CBC’s Mr. D, Disney’s The Swap and Saw 7), come together as sketch comedy partners and Second City Toronto alumni, who satirize the male/female dynamic in all its complicated splendor. BARAM & SNIECKUS showcases the singular point of view and chemistry that comes from being a real life comedy couple.
From the awkward dance of sharing the shower with your partner to the precarious terrain of forgetting the name of the man you’ve met at least a thousand times, the story of men and women will be told through a satirical sketch comedy lens, informed by Matt and Naomi’s personal experiences as a real life comedy couple, fully heightened and explored in a unique and hilarious way. Their sharp wit and anarchic chemistry are not to be missed.
“Baram and Snieckus: they’re as much fun as you can have without taking your clothes off” – Toronto Star

The National Theatre of the World (NTOW) is a multi-disciplinary, Toronto-based, not-for-profit theatre company that creates exciting, provocative, and instantaneous theatre through the art of improvisation. Founded in 2008, by Co-Artistic Directors Matt Baram, Ron Pederson and Naomi Snieckus, NTOWʼs mandate is the creation of new Canadian work that encourages the theatre and improvisation communities to come together. Through the production of three different shows: Impromptu Splendor (The Live Improvised Play), The Carnegie Hall Show (The Improvised Retrospective), The Script Tease Project, and Impulse Festival (in association with Soulpepper Theatre), NTOW bridges the gap between theatre and improvisation by creating vivid, dramatic and complex full-length plays, radio dramas, sketch shows and inter-disciplinary variety shows.
