RIDING THE RIVER FOR 32 YEARS

– THE ANNUAL LAUGHLIN RIVER RUN

By Judy Shields

Laughlin, NV (The Hollywood Times) 4/29/14 – “Get ready for the largest motorcycle event on the west coast. Join us this year as we take Laughlin by storm April 23th through the 27th. Come see Historic US Route 66 the way it was meant to be seen. Turn back time as you ride the hills from Kingman to Oatman, AZ. Cool off in the Colorado, or test lady luck at any one of the casinos located on the strip.” Quoted from the Dal-Con, 32nd Annual Laughlin River Run website. Dal-Con Productions is the founder and official promoter of the Laughlin River Run motorcycle rally. A citywide event held annually the last weekend of April featuring top name entertainment, factory displays, motorcycle demo rides, tradeshow exhibits, custom bike show and much more.

This year’s run had some beautiful weather, with cloudy skies and cooler temperatures than normal. I believe that the bikers that gathered for this annual event welcomed the cooler temps, since it can get up to 107 in Laughlin, NV in late April. There seemed to be less Harley Davidson motorcycles parked at the Riverside Casino this year compared to last year. Not sure if it had anything to do with the prices of gasoline or the fact that the weather did say there was a chance of rain.

LaMarque & Kazan

By Valerie Milano

West Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4/21/14 – “It’s about discovering how to find herself, as opposed to just internalizing the labels that have just been placed upon her, learning how to listen to her own voice. That is something that I hope my two daughters learn in their lives, earlier than I did certainly, that it is important to hear your own voice more clearly than the voices that are coming at you. I think it has that sort of life affirming, positive message at its core.” Director-Screenwriter Jenée LaMarque of the new movie The Pretty One told The Hollywood Times at a round table discussion at the Standard Hotel on the Sunset strip talked about message her movie might give to woman watching it.
